Boroughmuir High School New Build

Boroughmuir High School New Build

The Boroughmuir High School new build project will take 1,165 pupils when it moves from its current site in Viewforth to a new home next to the Union Canal at Fountainbridge, Edinburgh. Pupils will have more sports facilities in the new school, including a rooftop games area that helps to make the most of a tight inner-city site.

This project is being delivered in partnership with Hub South East Scotland Limited. It is part-funded by the Scottish Government through the ‘Schools for the Future Programme’ that is managed by the Scottish Futures Trust.

City Access Scaffolding was delighted to be appointed by main contractors, O’Hare & McGovern Ltd (OHMG), and to be part of this major project.

The state of the art building replaces the current building, providing more sports facilities, featuring the first roof-top pitch in Scotland which helps to make the most of a tight inner-city site.

The new school which was moved from its current site in Viewforth and placed next to the Union Canal at Fountainbridge will accommodate 1,165 pupils.

Other features include a multi-functional atrium and classrooms with quick access to collaborative break-out spaces. The new building will include a public park, which will sit on the banks of the Union Canal.

We are delighted to be working with OHMG who are participating in the Considerate Constructors Scheme – a national initiative to improve the image of the construction through better management and presentation of sites.  OHMG aim to raise project standards to a higher level than that demanded by statutory requirements, and are fully committed to the Considerate Constructors 5 point Code of Practice that includes:

  • Enhancing the appearance
  • Respecting the community
  • Protecting the environment
  • Securing everyone’s safety
  • Caring for the workforce
